Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infects more than 300 million people worldwide and is a common cause of liver disease and liver cancer. HBV, a member of the Hepatadn- naviridae family, is a small DNA virus with unusual features similar to retroviruses. HBV replicates through an RNA intermediate and can integrate into the host genome.
Materials and Methods :-Blood samples were collected from blood bank to detect hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg) in the blood of blood donors at the blood bank at Tripoli Central Hospital during the period 1/1/2017 to 1/31/2018. The ELISA method was used for the qualitative detection of hepatitis B virus surface antigen. BV (HBV) in serum and plasma.
Results - The study was conducted on 12,618 blood donors to test for the detection of hepatitis B surface antigen, and the negative detection rate gave a rate of 99.19%, while the number of 104 donors was positive, meaning a percentage of 0.86% for the year 2017.
Conclusion - The standard deviation for donors during this year was about 63 cases, while the standard deviation for those with a positive test was about 1.5, while the results of 2018 were for 7,345 religious donors who were examined, where the negative detection rate was 99.15%, while the positive cases were 0.85%, and the deviation The standard deviation for donors during this year was 63, while the standard deviation for those with a positive test was about 1.9.
