Abstract
This study deals with the exploitation of the mineral resources of Fezzan region during theroyal era of Libya. The importance of this research lies in its reliance on the original documents that show the hopes and plans of the Libyan government to invest those resources. The study was divided into two sections; the first one discussed the early exploratory missions that sought to search and explore for mineral resources, the laws and regulations governing those operations, and the nature of those mineral resources explored in this region, while the second section discussed the terms of government contracts with foreign companies that requested exploration concessions, and the deliberations of those contracts and their outcomes. The research concluded that, as a result of many technical and logistical difficulties, no significant positive results of those efforts and hopes were
achieved during the study period.
