I am pleased today to welcome you to the halls of Fezzan University as we all witness the events of the seminar entitled "Introducing Traffic Safety, Its Importance, and Its Role in Reducing Traffic Accidents," in collaboration with the Libyan Traffic Safety Association, coinciding with Arab Traffic Week."
● Today, we gather under a highly significant theme related to human life, security, and safety, namely road safety, which has transcended being merely a traffic or security issue; it has become a humanitarian, societal, and ethical concern of utmost importance. Local and international statistics indicate alarming numbers of accidents that occur daily on the roads, claiming lives, causing injuries and permanent disabilities, and inflicting severe economic and social losses on countries.
● This highlights the importance of this seminar, which is part of fruitful collaboration and the integration of roles between the university, state institutions, civil society organizations, media, and stakeholders concerned with road safety. The aim is to achieve a deeper understanding of the causes of accidents and to provide scientific and practical recommendations based on studies, research, and mature experiences that contribute to reducing accidents and saving lives.
● Ladies and gentlemen, attendees.
Fezzan University, while hosting this seminar, declares its full commitment to providing all possible scientific contributions through its students, faculty, and researchers, to be an active partner in awareness campaigns, training programs, and community education, as well as in developing future traffic policies that consider the region's specificities and the behaviors of road users.
● We affirm that Fezzan University is open to collaboration with all official and unofficial entities to launch local initiatives, media campaigns, and ongoing awareness seminars that establish road safety as a deep-rooted culture among all segments of society.
●Last but not least.
– I would like to express my sincere gratitude, appreciation, and respect to everyone who contributed to organizing this seminar. I thank our guests from the Libyan Traffic Safety Association for sharing their expertise and experiences, as well as the faculty members and students from Faculty of Engineering. Special thanks also to the traffic security authorities who work tirelessly every day to protect lives and organize traffic flow, despite the challenges and sometimes limited resources.
● I hope this awareness seminar serves as a starting point for a series of scientific and community meetings aimed at enhancing security and traffic safety on our roads and fostering a generation that is more aware and respectful of traffic laws.
● May God grant us all success in what is good, righteous, and beneficial.
– Peace be upon you, and may the mercy and blessings of God be upon you.
– Prof. Dr. Al-Mahdi Milad Al-Jadi, President of Fezzan University.
