The second face-to-face meeting of the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Agreement between the University and the Desert Research Center.

● In the context of enhancing the scientific partnership between the two parties and activating the terms of the agreement, the second face-to-face meeting of the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Joint Scientific Cooperation Agreement between Fezzan University and the Desert Research Center for Community Development was held on Sunday morning, May 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Libyan Center for Desert Research and Development of Desert Communities. The meeting aimed to discuss mechanisms for implementing joint scientific programs between the two parties, establish a detailed work plan, and create a timeline to ensure the achievement of the desired goals. The attendees then directly proceeded to discuss the proposed agenda as follows:

1. Presenting the possibility of joint utilization of one of the research farms of the center for organic farming experiments.

2. Presenting the possibility of benefiting from the experiences of certain centers and institutes specialized in the field of desert community development and transferring and localizing their expertise.

3. Presenting the possibility of conducting field research related to the environment and water on one of the following topics:

A. Water pollution and its impact on health and the environment.

B. Water sources in desert areas and their sustainability potential.

C. Water purification and desalination techniques and their role in dry environments.

4. Within the framework of the signed agreement, the Research and Scientific Consulting Department at the university, in cooperation with the Research Affairs Administration at the Desert Research Center, intends to hold a scientific seminar on methods of preventing deviant behavior among youth.

5. Presenting the possibility of joint scientific cooperation in the field of training between the two parties.

6. Reviewing the laboratories of the Desert Research Center and the possibility of utilizing them.

7- Organizing a scientific seminar accompanied by a work program in the integrated management of palm pests (in Fezzan region).

● On the sidelines of the meeting, the members of the two committees conducted a tour of the scientific laboratories affiliated with the center, where they reviewed the available equipment, arrangements, and tools, ensuring their readiness to support the joint programs and projects planned for the upcoming phase.
