Speech of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Qatroun at the Seminar on Intertrade between Libya and the Countries of Sub-Saharan Africa: Opportunities and Challenges

Dr. Abubakr Muhammad Jaber Al-Nimer, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Qatroun, delivered a welcoming speech this Thursday, May 22, 2025, during the scientific seminar held under the theme "Enhancing Joint Economic Cooperation" in the Jewel Hall in the city of Qatroun. The speech included the following:
"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Esteemed attendees, respected professors and researchers, dear guests, peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
It is my pleasure and honor, on my behalf and on behalf of all members of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Qatroun, to warmly welcome you to our faculty in this scientific seminar that carries a highly significant title: 'Intertrade between Libya and the Countries of Sub-Saharan Africa: Opportunities and Challenges,' under the theme of enhancing joint economic cooperation.
The holding of this seminar comes at a time when there is an increasing need to activate and develop economic and trade cooperation between Libya and neighboring countries, as this has a direct impact on supporting stability, enhancing development, providing job opportunities, and integrating resources. Intertrade is considered one of the effective tools for achieving regional integration and strengthening economic and cultural ties between the peoples of the region. The Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Qatroun, located in the heart of southern Libya, holds special significance in this context due to its geographical and cultural proximity to the common borders, which grants us a pivotal role in studying these relationships, analyzing them, and providing scientific insights and practical recommendations that serve decision-makers and contribute to the development of economic policies in Libya and the region."
- We believe in our college in the importance of scientific research in addressing national issues, and through this seminar, we aim to build bridges of cooperation and communication among researchers, encourage constructive scientific dialogue, fruitful and purposeful discussions, and the exchange of opinions, experiences, ideas, and scientific practices among academics and specialists.
- I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the organizing committee and the scientific committee, and to all participating researchers. I especially thank and respect our esteemed guests and honorable visitors who have come from within Libya and abroad, affirming that your presence is genuine for this seminar.
