● In the speech delivered by Prof. Al-Mahdi Milad Al-Jadi, President of the University, during the scientific symposium held under the theme (Towards Enhancing Joint Economic Cooperation) in the Jewel Hall in the city of Qatroun this Thursday morning, May 22, 2025, he stated the following:

● Honorable Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University, Honorable Mayor of Qatroun, esteemed Deans of the Colleges, Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs of the Colleges, distinguished guests, General Secretary, Registrar, Directors of Centers, Offices, and Departments, Heads of Departments, esteemed guests, each by name and title, our dear students… Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. May Allah bless your morning with goodness.

● Ladies and gentlemen present.

– First, I would like to express my happiness to be with you today in the city of Qatroun, and my joy to meet you this morning; to witness together the activities of the scientific symposium titled “Intertrade between Libya and Sub-Saharan Countries: Opportunities and Challenges,” organized by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Qatroun in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Accounting in Murzuq. Welcome to all of you among your family and peers from Fezzan University, and from the sons of this historic city located in the far southwest of our beloved homeland.

● Ladies and gentlemen present.

– The holding of this scientific seminar in the city of Qatroun carries profound symbolism, not only because it represents a meeting point of multiple cultures, but also because it forms Libya's natural gateway to its African depth, where historical continuity, human interaction, and cultural and economic connections exist.

● Ladies and gentlemen present.

– Experiences have demonstrated that inter-country trade does not solely involve the exchange of goods and services; it transcends this to become an effective tool in enhancing security, safety, and stability, as well as strengthening cooperation and building bridges of trust and love among peoples. When trade flourishes, income improves, unemployment decreases, and multiple opportunities arise for youth, leading to vibrant joint investments. All of this directly contributes to achieving sustainable development, combating poverty, addressing the root causes of conflict and displacement, and reducing tensions arising from poverty and economic fragility.

● Ladies and gentlemen present.

– Fezzan University, as a scientific and research institution, prioritizes addressing development issues, bridging knowledge with the geographical and cultural surroundings, and supporting applied research initiatives that contribute to proposing realistic development policies that serve common interests. From this perspective, this seminar aims not only to exchange scientific papers but also to open a serious and responsible scientific dialogue among academics, experts, and researchers to produce actionable recommendations that contribute to building an effective, sustainable, and fair commercial system between Libya and its neighboring African countries.

● Ladies and gentlemen present.

– We are called today, more than ever, to move beyond the traditional view of economic relations towards building integrative partnerships based on mutual benefits, respecting specificities, facilitating trade movement, developing infrastructure, and activating legal and institutional frameworks that ease consultation and stimulate entrepreneurship.

●Last but not least.

– I reiterate my happiness today to be among you in the city of Qatroun, and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed to the preparation and organization of this seminar, including the scientific, preparatory, media, and service committees, as well as all the guests, experts, and researchers who honored us with their presence and valuable contributions. I also thank the sponsoring and supporting entities for organizing this seminar, foremost among them: the Municipal Council of Qatroun, Al-Hurriyat Company for General Contracting, Itibar Qatroun Company for importing health materials, and Al-Rimal Company for Electronics… I affirm Fezzan University’s readiness to cooperate with all local and regional institutions to serve research and development issues.

● May Allah grant you all success.

● Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

● Prof. Mahdi Milad Al-Jadi, President of Fezzan University.
